European drone technology should not require a trade-off between sovereignty, performance and price. The belief that removing Chinese-origin components from the supply chain means accepting lower performance or higher costs is exactly what keeps procurement tied to the dependency Europe is trying to escape.

Global drone ecosystems are tethered to a single point of failure: China. This dominance extends beyond raw materials to the finished components that define modern unmanned systems. China controls approximately 60–70% of global rare earth extraction capacity. Without them, scaling production for mass deployment becomes logistically impossible for Western nations in the short term.

Despite tighter U.S. and EU sourcing rules (EU's February 2026 Action Plan, FY2025 NDAA Section 1709), many drones marketed as “Made in America” or “Made in Europe” still rely on Chinese-origin motors, PCBs, and electronics. The core problem is traceability as multi-tiered supplier networks make it difficult to verify where critical components actually come from, even when final assembly takes place locally. New NDAA and EU requirements are pushing manufacturers toward approved and auditable sourcing, but enforcement remains challenging. In practice, the gap between assembly location and true component origin is still a major weakness in Western drone supply chains.

The path to supply chain sovereignty is clear but arduous.

Until alternative processing hubs come online and supply chain transparency improves, the drone industry remains vulnerable to geopolitical pressure. Diversifying supply is a national security issue, not just an economic one.

Manufacturers tend to release only peak performance data, which causes problems in the engineering phase. Having systematic datasheets and performance characteristic curves for each product are the norm for us.

We provide laboratory level data to enable integrators design their applications up to standards.

The data will be available to integrators via arcticravn.fi where the latest batches are to be uploaded.

Configurations matter and that is why we provide data to engineers on a platform basis to make integrations easier with custom firmwares. We also support pre-programmed chipsets based on customer needs. This cuts down the parameter set time and the whole cycle can be QC tested on our factory before it reaches the customer premises. We want to help our customers to succeed and if there are some specialized needs, we are listening.
